"This Essence best-seller is a collection of true stories about enslaved couples who fought mobs, bloodhounds, wolves, bounty hunters, social taboos and separations to stay together. One fugitive slave spends 17 years searching for his wife, and a free black man becomes a slave to remain with his family. The book also contains stories about a young black woman who travels inside a sealed chest to reach her fiancée, a white woman who runs away with her own slaves and three young black men who go to jail to protect the freedom of an 11-year-old girl."

Book is available at: The Shrine of the Black Madonna, Borders, Barnes and Noble, the Truth Bookstore and Amazon.com.

Our Lady of Victory—The Saga of an African American Catholic Community is a compilation of memories, research, photos and interviews.  The author’s recollections are recalled about growing up surrounded by so much history in this church founded in 1943 after the worse race riot in Detroit’s history.  A school was built in 1954. A cement wall constructed by racist government policies to separate the races makes for fascinating reading.  It is the story of a once thriving Catholic community whose history was wiped out with a merger and the author’s determination to get it back.
